Most of our officers have expertise knowledge in thier chosen fields.

Sergeant Rina Coy

Family Violence Coordinator / Sergeant of Road Patrol / 
Field Training Officer

     

    Sergeant Rina Coy is a resident of Sumter County and graduated from A.B.A.C Regional Police Academy (now South Georgia Regional Police Academy) in 2001.  She began her law enforcement career with the Sumter County Sheriff's Office in 2000 as a Communications Officer.  In March of 2003, she joined Montezuma Police Department. Since her career began in law enforcement, Sergeant Coy has received several commidations for her dedication. In 2005, she was promoted to Field Training Officer. In 2006, she was promoted to Sergeant Of Road Patrol.

    Sergeant Rina Coy has been with Montezuma Police Department for 8 years.  She is the department's Family Violence Investigator and dedicates herself to helping victims to understand the seriousness of a situation as well as getting the help that is available.

Sergeant Amber Odom

Child Abuse Investigator / Sergeant of Road Patrol

    


    Sergeant Amber Odom, is originally from Maryland. She graduated from High School in 1992. Sergeant Odom pursued a career in law enforcement in 2000, beginning with Paulding County Sheriff's Department. In 2003, she left Houston County Sheriff's Department to pursue  a career with Montezuma Police Department. Since her career began in law enforcement, Sergeant Odom has received several commidations which include Officer Of The Year in the years 2003 and 2006 with Montezuma Police Department. In 2006, she was promoted as Sergeant Of Road Patrol. 

    During Sergeant Odom's employment at Montezuma Police Department, she holds the position of the official Child Abuse Investigator, which she has a strong passion for.

FTO Christopher Parker

Field Training Officer / Patrol / Child Safety Restraint Expert

     FTO Christopher Parker is a native of Americus, Georgia and attended Sumter County Comprehensive High School. After graduation, he served four years in the United States Navy, where he was honorably discharged.

After the military, FTO Parker began a career in law enforcement with the Sumter County Sheriff's Department as a jailer. FTO Parker achieved rank as a Sergeant in the jail, while awaiting an available seat with South Georgia Regional Police Academy at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC). After graduating from the police academy in 2000, FTO Parker worked as a road patrol deputy for a year and then pursued a career with Unadilla Police Department. While employed with Unadilla Police Department, FTO Parker achieved rank of Sergeant on road patrol until leaving to follow a career at Leslie Police Department. During his employment with Leslie Police Department, FTO Parker became the department's Lieutenant and held the position of interim Chief Of Police. 

    In 2004, FTO Parker received a diploma for Criminal Justice Technology from South Georgia Technical College. In April 2005, FTO Parker joined the Montezuma Police Department as a patrol officer. Through his training, FTO Parker has since became one of the department's Certified Child Safety Seat Instructor and completed the P.O.S.T. certified supervision courses. In 2006, FTO Parker was promoted to the rank of Field Training Officer (FTO). In five years of service with Montezuma Police Department, FTO Christopher Parker has received several commidations for his dedication since his career began which include, Employee Of The Year for 2008 as well as Officer Of The Year in 2009.

                                                             





                         
    The Montezuma Police Department has been utilizing the assistance of canines since 2007. With the assistance of a K9, officers are able to locate Narcotics they can not readily see. Since the K9 program was introduced, the department's drug case flow has increased as well as its success in other aspects. The Montezuma Police Department currently has two canines.

FTO Frank Ellenberg

Field Training Officer / K9 Officer / Patrol

    FTO Frank V. Ellenberg III, was born in Americus, Georgia and is the son of the late  Georgia State Patrol Trooper Frank V. Ellenberg, Jr. and the late Mrs. Gwen Ellenberg. FTO Ellenberg is the proud father of his son, Jeremy Ellenberg. FTO Ellenberg started his career in law enforcement in 1997 as a Correctional Officer for Sumter County Correctional Institute. In 2000, FTO Ellenberg graduated from Middle Georgia Police Academy. FTO Ellenberg has been employed with Montezuma Police Department since 2005. His current duties include Field Training Officer, K9 Officer and assisting with Narcotics Investigations. Since his career began, FTO Ellenberg has received several commidations for his dedication which include a letter from the Secretary Of State. 

    As K9 Officer for the department, he is the K9 handler for "Jessy". The purpose of having a K9 is to assist our department with narcotics detection. In 2007, FTO Ellenberg and "Jessy" graduated from South Georgia K9 School For Dogs. "Jessy" was trained in obedience, intelligence, general adaptability and narcotic detection. "Jessy" achieved national certification in 2007 as well. Since "Jessy" was introduced into the community, she has assisted officers with locating narcotics in over 50 cases. She is a very dependable tool that officers have access to when needed. "Jessy" and FTO Ellenberg also participate in programs at the library and schools to help educate children about her abilities and the dangers of drug use.

Officer Flynt

K9 Officer / Patrol

    Officer Flynt is not pictured due to security reasons. He is the Handler/Owner of Montezuma Police Department's K9 "Max". Officer Flynt graduated from South Georgia Police Academy in 2002. He has been employed with the Montezuma Police Department for approximately 7 years. Officer Flynt has many certificates of his training which include Marijuana Identification, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Taser Certified, Child Safety Restraint Expert. Officer Flynt assist with Narcotics Investigations in the department as well. Since his career began in law enforcement, Officer Flynt has received several commidations for his dedication which include Officer Of The Year in 2004 and Employee Of The Year in 2005 with Montezuma Police Department.

    "Max" is highly trained in narcotic detection, obedience, tracking, and apprehension. He is 11 years old and has approximately 10 years of patrol experience. He is truly an asset to the department in many ways.  

Officer Keith Everett

Patrol

 



    Officer Keith Everett, a native of Macon County, graduated from D.F. Douglas High School in Montezuma, Georgia in 1977. He has been in law enforcement for over 25 years. He began his career in 1986, when he was hired by Montezuma Police Department. He graduated from the Police Academy that year and has served the city since. 

    Officer Everett has been with the department longer than any other officer. He has held many positions within the department over the past years, such as Assistant Chief, Lieutenant, and Sergeant Of Patrol. Since his career began in law enforcement, Officer Everett has received several commidations for his dedication. He has served in the United States Army as a Medical Specialist for 10 years, both active and reserve. He is well known and respected within the community as well as surrounding cities. He has worked with Oglethorpe Police Department, Marshallville Police Department, Ellaville Police Department and Fort Valley State College over the years.

                                                   







              

Officer Jennifer Bailey

Gang Investigator / Patrol

 
    

        Officer Jennifer Bailey was born in Americus, Georgia. In 1997, she received her high school diploma from South Georgia Technical College. In 2001, she began her career in law enforcement with the Sumter County Sheriff's Department, where she was a jailer. In 2002, she graduated from  South Georgia Police Academy at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) and began her employment with Cordele Police Department. After 4 years of service, she was hired by Montezuma Police Department in May of 2006 in the Patrol Division. She has received training in many courses at Georgia Public Safety Training Center, which include, Gang Identification, Awareness, and Investigations; Meth Lab Awareness and Identification; as well as Search And Seizure For Drug Cases. Officer Bailey is a member of Georgia Gang Investigators Association, which is a compilation of agencies throughout Georgia who share intelligence about gangs, their members and gang violence. She is the gang investigator and assist with narcotics investigations for Montezuma Police Department. Officer Bailey has received several commidations for her dedication, since her career began in law enforcement which include, an Officer Of The Year Award in 2007 and Employee Of The Year in 2009 with Montezuma Police Department.







Officer Josh Harris

Middle Ga Traffic Enforcement Network Coordinator / Patrol / Child Safety Restraint Expert

    Officer Josh Harris began his career in 1990. He was hired by Taylor County Sheriff's Office as a dispatcher. While working as a Dispatcher for the Sheriff Office, he completed Law Enforcement Training at the Columbus College Police Academy in 1993. In 1994, he was hired by Montezuma Police Department and served until 1996. Officer Harris  was then hired by Butler Police Department and served for 10 years for that department. During his employment there, he achieved the rank of Sergeant. In May 2005, he left law enforcement to pursue another career path. In 2006, he returned to law enforcement and was employed with the City of Reynolds. 

    In March of 2007, Officer Harris was rehired by Montezuma Police Department. During his time with the department, he has also became a Child Safety Seat Technician and  is the liaison for Montezuma Police Department's association with Middle Georgia Traffic Enforcement Network as well as Governor's Office Of Highway Patrol. Agencies across the State of Georgia participate together in efforts to reduce traffic accidents, alcohol/drug impairment driving, seatbelt violations and many other traffic related events. Since his career began in law enforcement, Officer Harris has received several commidations for his dedication.

 

Mr. George Sparks

School Crossing Guard

     Mr. George Sparks, native of Montezuma, Georgia, is the school crossing guard for Macon County Middle School. He ensures that our children cross the busy street safely, and helps slow vehicles down that are driving too fast for those conditions. Mr. Sparks has been the school crossing guard for approximately five years and is very much appreciated by the community and the department.
